The Pilgrim Chapter Of Bikers For Christ (BFCPC)
God and motorcycles - not the usual image
that folks have in mind when they think of bikers, but that’s exactly what you’ll find with the
Pilgrim Chapter of Bikers For Christ. Bikers for Christ International
established the Pilgrim Chapter on February 1st, 2011,
with three
Plymouth, MA, area men as charter members. As one of
largest motorcycle ministries in the world, it's the goal of Bikers For
Christ Motorcycle Ministry to share the truth and opportunity of Jesus Christ with those
that want much more from life then they currently have. Imagine a
freedom greater than a motorcycle - one that doesn't end when you kick-down
your stand!
The Pilgrim Chapter is located in the Plymouth area of southeastern
Massachusetts and includes South Shore, Cape Cod and the South coast,
but Christian riders from all over the state are invited to join the
ministry efforts of the Pilgrim Chapter.
Bikers For Christ International – A Little
Background
Bikers For Christ Motorcycle
Ministry began in August 1990. It was founded in Marysville,
California by Pastor Fred Zariczny (Fred Z), who was previously
associated with non-Christian motorcycle clubs in Massachusetts, Arizona
& Alaska before coming to Christ in 1977. After his conversion, he laid
down his bike for awhile as he entered Bible college, got married and
started a family. God opened the doors for Pastor Fred to establish or
help create at least four active motorcycle ministries. He was an elder
in Christ's Motor Club in Los Angeles in the early eighties. He was also
the Alaska state president of the I.C.B.A. (International Christian
Biker Association) for four years.
After these experiences, he decided to start a new outreach ministry
simply called, "Bikers For Christ". It was his goal to create a
Christian motorcycle ministry with a simplified purpose and vision – one
without a lot of bylaws, constitutions, amendments and the like.
Promotion of Bikers For Christ in the first years occurred by word of
mouth and by way of Fred's many travels on his bike, along with other
dedicated members, to plant chapters. Even today, word of mouth seems to
be the primary method of finding servants willing to help out in BFC.
Now, with over 4,000 members located nationally/internationally, the
organization is staying true to their original purpose. Each BFC
chapter operates under an elder (ours is Dave "ZAO" Breck)and the local
church. A national administrator oversees the regional elders, handles finances and merchandise as well as application
filing and review.
Some Of The Ways In Which BFC Is Unique
Bikers For Christ is an International,
inter-denominational ministry that doesn’t have lofty titles like
"president", "vice-president", "secretary", etc. They believe titles
like these only lead to pride.
BFC does not have a prospect process. You either are or aren't a member.
The organization doesn’t just “sell patches” to any interested party.
Members must be Bible-believing, born again Christians. That means
that the right to wear a Bikers For Christ patch was purchased by blood
– the blood of Jesus Christ - and not by any man or their personal
efforts.
Bikers For Christ trusts the Holy Spirit to keep the membership in line.
Each person is on their honor and commitment with God to walk straight
as a minister of the Gospel and to lay their own back patch down if they
backslide. They do not act as "church police" and do not shoot their
wounded.
